The Harrodsburg Heritage Days Association was formed in 1986 for the purpose of promoting community spirit and to participate in projects that help perpetuate, preserve, and record the history of the Harrodsburg area, and provide a forum where discussion, debate, and decision making can occur to achieve the above purpose.
Harrodsburg was at one time the main trading center for southern Monroe county.
During the peak years (1837-1920's) the town was served by several general
stores, drug store, tavern, livery stable, two hotels, newspaper, doctors,
undertaker, slaughter house, distillery, feed mill, washing machine factory,
garage, woolen mill, blacksmiths, Odd Fellows, Mason, K of P and Red Men
Lodges, a town band, schools and Christian, Church of Christ, Methodist, and
Presbyterian churches.
Harrodsburg Heritage Days Association has been a leader in helping bring to
reality the Community Building, playground, and sponsors Heritage Days each
year.
